Evelyn Kay Bonstell
Evelyn “Evie” Kay Bonstell, 83, of Hart, passed away sooner than expected on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Corewell Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.
Evie was born April 25, 1942, in Hesperia, to Cecil Gardner and Cora (Brown) Spaulding. On February 25, 1961, she fell in love and married Kenneth “Oop” Bonstell, with whom she shared over three decades until his passing in 1993. Then in 2009, she found companionship and love again with Leonard Larson, a devoted partner until her final days.
Evie had love for simple pleasures—camping under the stars, casting a fishing line, trying her luck at the casino, and gathering around a card table. But more than anything, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.
Evie is survived by: her three children, Aleshia (Ron) Cramblet, Hugh (Paula) Bonstell, and Michelle (Terry) Graham; and by her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Bonstell, Jamie Current, Dale Bonstell, Kyle Maus, Savanna Kauffman, Josh Graham, and Jeremy Graham. Evie was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and many honorary family members through Leonard Larson—each of them held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Barb Annis.
Evie was preceded in death by her siblings, Beatrice Welch, Shirley Spaulding, Marjorie Place, Alfred Spaulding, Keith Spaulding, Bud Spaulding, and Beverly Walker.
In honor of Evie’s wish to forgo a formal funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hugh and Paula Bonstell’s home, 2158 E. Minke Road, Hart. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in sharing stories, laughter, and memories.
Evie’s life was full of love, laughter, and unwavering spirit—she will be missed deeply but remembered joyfully.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
