GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 66-year-old Muskegon man died in a single-vehicle crash on US 31 near Rothbury Sunday, June 22, around 3:15 p.m., according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
“Yesterday afternoon, the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident on US 31 near Park Rd. in Grant Township,” said Sheriff Mast in a press release issued Monday morning. “The investigating deputies found a 2019 Jeep Wrangler had drifted off the road into the median and rolled. The driver was fatally injured in the crash. He is a 66-year-old Muskegon man — his name is Gary Archambault. The passenger in the crash was injured and was transported to Trinity Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby. She is stable.”
The passenger was Peggy Sue Archambault, 66, of Muskegon.
“The vehicle appeared to have overturned several times,” said the sheriff’s office accident report. “During the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. It appeared that the driver had the seat belt buckled behind him and was not wearing it correctly. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”
“The crash is still under investigation — drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have been involved in the incident,” said Sheriff Mast. Assisting the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office were Life EMS, Grant Township Fire Department and the Rothbury Police Department.
