ROTHBURY — As the massive Electric Forest Festival begins Thursday, June 19, at the Double JJ Resort, local police are reporting no major incidents thus far as tens of thousands of people from across the country and beyond descend upon the small Village of Rothbury.
Michigan State Police Sgt. Michael Cuevas reported “nothing significant” as of Thursday morning. Detailed information from MSP was not immediately available but is expected to be available Monday, June 23.
Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast reported a few minor incidents this week in the vicinity of Electric Forest.
A 22-year-old Morton, Illinois woman faces charges of operating without insurance, open intoxicants, possession with intent to deliver LSD and bringing contraband into the jail following a traffic stop on Oceana Drive near Wilke Road in Grant Township Sunday, June 15, shortly after 9 p.m., said Sheriff Mast.
Following her arrest, contraband believed to be LSD was found in her possession at the Oceana County Jail.
Four other individuals were arrested during the traffic stop on charges of open intoxicants. All five suspects were in the area to work at the Electric Forest Festival, said the sheriff.

Tuesday, June 17, 2025:
- 2:17 a.m., a 39-year-old Coopersburg, Pennsylvania man was cited for open intoxicants and a 38-year-old Northampton, Pennsylvania man was cited for driving while license suspended following a vehicle fire on Water Road near Park Road, Grant Township.
- 9:31 p.m., a 39-year-old Ravenna man was cited for second-offense driving while license suspended, South Oceana Drive near Skeels Road, Grant Township.
Wednesday, June 18, 2025:
- 9:07 p.m., a 22-year-old Indianoplois, Indiana man was arrested for ecstasy possession and operating without insurance, South Oceana Drive near Webster Road, Grant Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
