Miss Ludington Area Natalee Urbon

MUSKEGON — Miss Ludington Area Natalee Urbon was named First Runner Up during the 86th annual Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, June 14. Urbon also was named Miss Congeniality during the pageant held at the Frauenthal Theater in downtown Muskegon. As Miss Ludington Area, Urbon represents Mason, Manistee, Oceana, and Lake counties. She was chosen among 22 women and earned $4,300 in scholarships. She is the first Miss Ludington Area in the program’s history to earn and place that high in the statewide competition.

As part of the competition, contestants participate in five categories: private interview with judges, on-stage question, lifestyle and fitness, talent, and evening gown. Each contestant spends her year-long reign advocating for causes of their choice, called a Service Initiative (formerly known as a platform). Urbon’s Service Initiative, the CommUNITY Campaign, focuses on unifying communities and people for the common good of everyone.

Urbon, a resident of Ludington, was crowned Miss Ludington Area on January 5, 2025 where she earned $2,850 in scholarships – raising her overall total to $7,150 to further her education; she is a student at Grand Valley State University.

Miss Spirit of the State, Hannah Palmer of Brighton, was crowned 86th Miss Michigan and she will compete for the title of Miss America in September in Orlando, Florida. If Palmer is crowned the next Miss America, Urbon will be the first in line to complete the reign of Miss Michigan until the next Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant next June, if she so chooses.

The next Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Pageant will take place on December 21 at L.F. Petersen Auditorium at Ludington High School. At least $3,000 will be awarded in scholarships and prizes; more information to come. The Miss Ludington Area Scholarship Pageant is open to women ages 18-28 who reside, work or attend school in Mason, Manistee, Oceana or Lake counties.
