Sudz laundromat opening in Whitehall

WHITEHALL — A new laundromat, Sudz, will be opening soon at 206 Colby St.

The laundromat, which offers all new high-efficiency machines, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The laundromat is located in retail space next to the former AFC gym site in the plaza by the closed Chen’s restaurant. Sudz owner Danny Zuniga owns the adjacent former gym space, which is 4,800 square feet, and it is available for sale or rent.

Sudz offers large-capacity washers and dryers that can handle up to 60 pounds and 40 pounds of laundry. Those machines are ideal for washing comforters, quilts, sleeping bags, etc. 

There are 30 washers and 30 dryers total. “It’s all brand-new,” he said.

Zuniga owns Sudz laundromat on Oceana Drive at the southern end of Shelby and also owned a laundromat in downtown Shelby for many years. “Now that this is complete, we’re going to do an upgrade over there on the exterior and the equipment,” he said of the Shelby location. “We use all local contractors to do the work.” The upgrade in Shelby is expected to be completed this year. 

The new laundromat offers a cashless payment option with a QR code, so customers can pay using phone apps like Venmo, Apple Pay etc. 

The facility is air conditioned and has surveillance cameras. It is expected to be open for business some time this month.
