WEARE TOWNSHIP — Mason and Oceana County MSU Extension, in partnership with Farm Bureau, are hosting a Farm/Home Safety Day for children ages 7 and older Thursday, June 26, from 1-5 p.m. at the West Michigan Research Station, at 5185 N. Oceana Dr.
Sponsors for this year’s event include Helena Agrichemical, Matt Williams Farm Bureau Agency, Lane Stotler Farm Bureau Agency, Crop Insurance Specialist Ryan Fox of the Michigan Farm Bureau and A New Era of Crafting.
“This interactive and fun-filled afternoon will feature short, hands-on sessions designed to teach important safety skills and build confidence in real-life situations,” states press release from MSU Extension. Kids will rotate through engaging stations every 15 minutes, covering: tractor and shop safety; fire and water safety; ATV safety; large animal safety; first aid; chemical safety; and more. “Youth will gain practical knowledge to help them stay safe in both farm and home environments.”
Participants registered by June 10 will receive an event T-shirt in addition to the safety-themed goodie bag. Light snacks will be provided during the afternoon.
Registration is open until the day of the event. Registration forms can be picked up at the Oceana MSU Extension Office and the Mason County MSU Extension Office or by visiting the event website here.
