HART — Oceana County student artwork was on display at the recent Student Art Show sponsored by the Pentwater Arts Council.
“This year marked 15 years that the arts council has supported this juried student art show, and the Oceana County Council on the Aging in Hart provided a spacious location for the event,” states a press release from the arts council.

The two-day exhibition featured 2-D and 3-D art work that included entries from Pentwater elementary, middle and high schools; Hart middle and high schools; Shelby High School and Oceana Christian K-8 School.
Local Pentwater artists Patti Opel and Tim Norris, former art instructors and owners of Kook’s Eye Gallery, judged the art submissions based on the basics of form and content. Form relates to the effective use of certain techniques, media, visual elements and design principles, while content is what the artist is trying to say or express through the artwork’s form. All three school levels were judged on these qualities with monetary awards going to first, second, third place and Best of Show. The People’s Choice was awarded in 2-D and 3-D art in elementary, middle and high school levels.
Student art show submissions are accepted from all Oceana County schools, and art teachers will be provided information for the 2026 Student Art Show in the new year. Home-schooled students living in Oceana County are also welcome to participate. Contact the Pentwater Arts Council at pentwaterartscouncil.org or through the Pentwater Arts Council’s Facebook page in early 2026 for more information.
