HART – A job fair hiring party hosted by Michigan Works West Central is set for Wednesday, June 18, at the Oceana County Fairgrounds..
“Last year, Michigan Works West Central helped nearly 250 people find work through its annual hiring party summer job fairs,” states a press release from Michigan Works.
“These large-scale job fairs are set up like block-party events where attendees can stop at each booth to grab a portion of their meal, as well as talk to employers about open positions they have available. The idea is to connect local job seekers with actively-hiring employers by offering them a free lunch and creating a relaxed atmosphere.
“This June, the organization is looking to exceed last year’s total number of job offers when it hosts its fourth annual hiring party series. Each of the six counties to which the agency provides services will be hosting one of these large-scale hiring events, including Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Newaygo, Oceana and Osceola counties. More than 40 local employers are expected to be at each event.”
“The goal is to connect those looking for work and those looking to hire. Our annual hiring parties are a great way to bring both of those sides together in a low-pressure setting,” said Michigan Works West Central Executive Director Shelly Keene. “In our first three years of hiring parties, we’ve helped a total of 488 people find work. My team works hard each summer to make our hiring parties bigger and more successful. If you’re looking for work or looking to change jobs, join us at one of our hiring parties – come hungry, leave with a job.”
“Michigan Works West Central is holding its first Hiring Party of the summer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at its Big Rapids service center, located at 14330 Northland Drive. The organization will provide hot dogs and water, while the more than 40 participating employers will provide snacks, sides, drinks and more.
