Memorial Day parade schedule

The following are parades and ceremonies scheduled in Oceana County in observance of Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 26:

Ferry: 9 a.m., services begin at the North Cemetery; proceed to the South Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.; then the Otto Township Cemetery at 10 a.m.; and wrap up with a parade in town at 10:30 a.m.

Hart: 11 a.m. parade begins in front of the Oceana County Courthouse downtown and continues to Hart Cemetery for a ceremony. 

Hesperia: 10 a.m., services at the Vida Weaver Park and then West Cemetery.

Mears: 10 a.m. service at the Mears Cemetery, Golden Township.

New Era: 9 a.m. Parade route begins at New Era Christian School; turns south on James Street; west on Ray Avenue; south on Oceana Drive; and ends at Veterans Park at the corner of Oceana Drive and Garfield Road. 

Pentwater: 10 a.m. parade line-up on First Street with services at the municipal marina, Village Green and Pentwater Cemetery. 

Rothbury: 9 a.m., service begins at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Cemetery on Winston Road.

Shelby: 10 a.m. parade begins at Shelby Middle School and ends at Veterans Park by the Shelby Congregational Church. The ceremony will include a guest speaker, the performing of Taps and a 21-gun salute. 

Walkerville: 9 a.m., service at Fairlawn Cemetery west of the village. Veterans will assemble at the Veterans Memorial to participate in a traditional observance.
