Maria Guadalupe Vasquez, 84, of Hart, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born August 21, 1940, in Mercedes, Texas.

Maria was a hardworking, loving mother, and faithful wife to the love of her life, Fabian Vasquez Sr. She liked to cook and at 47, she and Fabian opened their restaurant, LaFiesta to make that dream come true. Thirty-seven years later, and still cooking at 84, it has become an institution in Hart, beloved by many people near and far.

Maria’s other loves were the family dog, Charly, who was her baby, as well as nature, flowers, and plants. Alongside her husband, many hours were spent working in their beautiful yard every spring and summer. Maria loved her home and family and enjoyed visits with her grandchildren.

Maria is survived by: her husband, Fabian Vasquez Sr.; her children, Velma (Carly, Gabe, Lisa, Frank and Ethan); Angel (Ashley); Fabian Jr. (Tony, Alyssa, Ashleigh); Eliza (Adrian); Andy, (Jonathan).

Maria was preceded in death by: her brother, Fidencio Vasquez; her sister, Enedilia Guajardo; and her mother, Ramona Garcia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 214 South Peach Avenue, Hart,  with burial in Hart Cemetery to follow. A luncheon will be offered at the church following the burial. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72nd Avenue, Hart.
