HART — The following were sentenced in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court Monday, April 28, 2025:
Meyer
– Benjamin Carl Meyer, 51, of Whitehall, pleaded no contest March 3 to third-degree home invasion and was sentenced April 28 to one year in jail with credit for 188 days served; 18 months probation; and $598 in fines and costs. One count of second-degree home invasion was dismissed. In a second file, Meyer pleaded no contest to breaking and entering a building with intent and received a concurrent term of one year in jail with credit for 188 days served; 18 months probation; and $658 in fines and costs.
Welcome-Schaefer
– Angel Marie Welcome-Schaefer, 42, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to harboring felons and was sentenced April 28 to 18 days in jail with credit for 18 days served; one year probation; and $658 in fines and costs.
Mader
– Shawn Sterling Mader, 54, of Burton, Michigan, pleaded guilty Jan. 6 to dangerous weapons and was sentenced April 28 to 52 days in jail with credit for 52 days served and $598 in fines and costs. Misdemeanor charges of driving while license suspended and operating without insurance were dismissed.
Cherney
– Michael Jonathan Cherney, 59, of Shelby, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to third-offense operating while intoxicated and was sentenced April 28 to 30 days in jail; 18 months probation; and $1,108 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).
Avila
– Adrianna Rae Avila, 27, of Rothbury, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to methamphetamine possession and was sentenced April 28 to 50 days in jail with credit for 50 days served; one year probation; and $658 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
