FERRY TOWNSHIP — A 42-year-old Shelby man was arrested Thursday, April 17, shortly after 4 p.m. in the 1800 block of Fish Road by troopers from the Michigan State Police, Hart post, on three felony counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, one felony count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count of parole violation, according to MSP and court records.
Joseph Alan Riggs, who has an extensive criminal history including 25 misdemeanor convictions and five felonies, was paroled from prison last October, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records.
Riggs is scheduled to appear in Oceana County’s 79th District Court for a preliminary exam May 6 at 2 p.m.
MSP was assisted at the scene by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.
