Pauline Kokx

Pauline Margaret Kokx, 84, of Ludington, formerly of Hart, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility. She was born May 14, 1940, in Muskegon, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Zuder) Morisson.

Pauline grew up in Muskegon, and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1958. During that time she enjoyed working at Parson’s Clothing Store and the Occidental Hotel Restaurant.

She married Eugene Mathew Kokx on July 26, 1958, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2022. They were longtime farmers in the Hart community. Pauline was skilled in all aspects, from bookkeeping to caring for the livestock and tending crops. Pauline and Gene took great pride in what they had and what they accomplished.

Together they were active members at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare; Pauline devoted her talents to the church, as office secretary, an organist and with the Children’s Religion program.  Additionally, she was a strong advocate for Oceana County Right to Life.

In Pauline and Gene’s later years they enjoyed each other’s company on drives through the countryside, hosting family gatherings and spending their evenings watching the picturesque sunsets over Lake Michigan.

Pauline’s faith, family, and farm were at the forefront of her life, and she cared deeply about all aspects of each.

Pauline is survived by: her children, Eugene II (Teresa) Kokx, Pamela (Steve) Welch, and Rhonda (Scott) Greiner; grandchildren, Trisha (Josh) Marsh, Danielle (Justin) Oomen, Courtney (Nick) Van Loo, Ryan (Abby) Grondsma, Kevin (Holly) Grondsma, Remi (Clayton) Brackett, Carin (Brad Baron) Greiner, Larissa (Nick) Vanderputte, and Macayla (Brad) Vannatter; 13 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way this summer; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Frances (Al) Russell; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Lillian) Kokx.

She was also preceded in death by: her infant son, Joseph Kokx, her parents, Ernest and Margaret Morisson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King- Hart Chapel, 2370 N 72nd Avenue, Hart, as well as Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Weare Catholic Church, 2380 West Jackson Road, Hart, with Fr. Phil Sliwinski presiding. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time Mass begins. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Weare.
