FRUITLAND TOWNSHIP, Muskegon County – The historic White River Light Station and Museum is turning 150 years old, and Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association is celebrating in grand style Saturday, June 21.
All are welcome for a full day of festivities, including entertainment, a special ceremony and state tribute, food, drinks, a silent auction and raffle, lighthouse tower climbs, and lawn games at the beloved lakeshore landmark.
Established in 1875, the White River Light Station has been a beacon of maritime history for 150 years. Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan on the White Lake Channel near Whitehall, the lighthouse stands as a testament to the region’s rich nautical past and remains a beloved local treasure.
To ensure easy access to the lighthouse, free air-conditioned bus transportation will be provided from Fruitland Township Hall. Guests are asked to park at Fruitland Township Hall, 4545 Nestrom Rd., where buses will begin departing at noon to shuttle visitors to the event.
Event Schedule
Noon – Celebration begins
12:30 p.m. – Live entertainment provided by a DJ
2 p.m. – Food is served
2:30-3 p.m. – Ceremony and Michigan state tribute
3 p.m. – Live entertainment: Shelagh & Robbie
4 p.m. – Silent auction ends
4:30 p.m. – Last bus departs from Fruitland Township Hall
7 p.m. – Event concludes
