PENTWATER — The Pentwater Arts Council has announced a new Oceana County art exhibition for 2025 — the Featured Artist Program.
Oceana County is well represented by a diverse array of artists including functional, display and performing arts. The mission of the Pentwater Arts Council is to support the arts including visual, theater, music and performing arts and to advance arts education in Pentwater and Oceana County.
This year is the inaugural year for the Featured Artist Program, and the goal of this endeavor is to recognize and highlight the artistic talents of local artists by showcasing their creativity in Oceana County libraries. The program will run from June 1 through August.
In the first year of the program, the Pentwater Arts Council will focus on 2-D submissions from artist applicants or nominated by a third party. Criteria includes: all work must be the artist’s original; the artist must be at least 18 years of age; the artist’s work must be available for display for up to three months (June, July and August 2025); the artist must grant the Pentwater Arts Council permission to use images of the work for display and advertising; the work remains the property of the artist; the artist must reside at least part time in Oceana County.
To apply or nominate an Oceana artist, complete an application found at the following libraries: Pentwater Township Library, Hart Public Library, Shelby Area District Library or Walkerville School and Public Library. The application/nomination form with instruction sheet can also be found on the Pentwater Arts Council website: www.pentwaterartscouncil.com/artmonth. The application deadline is April 1, 2025.
