
Marcella Lewis
Marcella Lewis, 82, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025. She was born March 16, 1942, in Murphy, North Carolina, the daughter of Edgar and Edith Naomi (Morgan) Henson.
Marcella attained her GED by taking night classes while working full-time at McDonald’s and Oceana Foods for 15 years before leaving to work at Cherry Blossom Manor for 26 years upon retiring. Her hobbies included handcrafted Native American Indian jewelry and knitting. Marcella liked to spend a lot of time outside gardening, especially planting flowers and maintaining an array of bird feeders. Marcella’s most precious time was spent with her children and grandchildren. Marcella enjoyed reading during her spare time. Marcella’s love for life was caring for not only her family but for those in need of a helping hand. She definitely made personal sacrifices in order to help those in her life and community.
Marcella is survived by: her sons, Torreanno (Veronica) Lewis of Grand Rapids, Willie (Dorothy) Lewis of Radcliff, Ky., Ron (Kari) Craton of Fennville, Rodney Lewis of Hart, and Henry Lewis of Wellston; and her daughters, Julia Lewis of Muskegon, Shelia Hawkins of Alpharetta, Ga., Patricia (Gary) Lewis of Shelby, Judy Welch of Cleveland, Mich., and Anita Lewis of South Haven. Marcella is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Marcella was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry Francis Lewis; parents, Edgar and Edith Naomi Henson; her brothers, Billy Henson, Bobby Henson, Larry Henson, Jerry Henson, and Leroy Henson; and her sisters, Helen Marie Henson, Linda Henson, Mary Henson (Vasquez).
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72ne Avenue, Hart. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m.until time of services at the funeral home.
