WALKERVILLE — The Walkerville Wildcats will celebrate homecoming next week.
This year’s homecoming court includes: freshmen Teagan Mannor and Skye Vannett; sophomores Larry Martinez and Ayla Whitehall; juniors Angel Carrillo and Anabelle Fessenden; and seniors Jeff Margret, Gage Mannor, Jaymes Conklin and Azaliah MacDonald.
The 2025 homecoming king and queen will be crowned during halftime of the varsity boys basketball game Friday, Feb. 7, against Bear Lake. The night will feature a doubleheader with both the boys and girls teams playing against the Lakers. The girls game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game. Walkerville’s youth rec cheerleaders will perform during halftime of the girls’ basketball game.
The homecoming dance is set for Saturday, Feb. 8, from 8-11 p.m. at the Walkerville Wesleyan Church. “They have been really awesome about letting us use their space,” said Student Council Advisor Mandy Achterhof.
Spirit days during the week lead up to the homecoming finale.
Monday is Generation Day — middle school students will dress like babies; freshmen will dress as middle school students; sophomores will dress as high school students; juniors will dress as college students; and seniors will dress as senior citizens.
In conjunction with this year’s homecoming theme of ancient Greece, Tuesday will be Toga Day.
Wednesday is Dress Like a Teacher Day. “The kids can pick any teacher in the school and dress like them,” said Achterhof. “The teachers can do the reverse and dress like a student.”
Thursday is Career Day, and students can dress like their favorite professionals.
“Friday is our Red and White Wildcat Pride Day,” said Achterhof. Students will wear their school colors and Wildcat gear.
The last hour of each school day next week will feature an assembly. “We’ll have different games and activities for the kids in the gym.” The students will also decorate their lockers with homecoming posters that they create.
