Bob Wrench
Robert “Bob” Lee Wrench, 81, of Hesperia, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025.
Bob was born November 3, 1943, in Lansing, son of William H. and Marian L. (Manning) Wrench. He graduated from Lakeview Community Schools on June 2, 1961, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 3, 1961, and served until his honorable discharge on July 2, 1965. During this time, he received the Good Conduct Award, The First Award, Rifle Sharpshooter, and Pistol Cal .45 Sharpshooter. After the USMC he was a police officer in Westphalia for several years. He then worked for Martin Block Corp in Lansing, until he retired at 58 years old. His attendance record was something he was very proud of; Bob never wanted to be a burden in anything or for anyone and said it was important to be there especially if people were depending on you!
After he retired, he moved to Hesperia so he could enjoy his retirement hunting, fishing, and gardening; some of the things he loved to do since he was a very young boy.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a dedicated member of the Hesperia American Legion Post #411, where he held the position of judge advocate and a very proud member of the America Legion Honor Guard. He helped out where he could for many years. Bob was a by the book guy and very meticulous about things being done correctly by the book!
Bob loved the American Flag and really enjoyed learning and teaching about the American Flag Code. His desk always had a book or information on it easily accessible about our flag.
He really enjoyed learning about his family history and spent a lot of time collecting information on his family heritage, including having it documented well for the rest of his family to enjoy. Anything old and antique Bob really enjoyed finding, keeping, and explaining it to you if he had the chance. Bob loved to fish and anything outdoors. He owned a small company for several years, BGB tackle. Blue Gill Bob the BMFIC loved to catch Bass, Pike, Trout, and almost any fish, but he especially loved catching and eating Bluegills. Bob also spent many successful days hunting Deer and Turkeys, which he loved. Gardening was a tremendous passion for him also for many years. Any Cat was a friend of Bobs, especially Woody, but he liked them all.
Bob would always be available to help if he could it was important to him that he was.
If you knew Bob, you know that he really enjoyed telling jokes and making you laugh.
Bob is survived by: his loving companion, Susy Nichols; his daughter, Tonya Jessie and her husband, Tony Jessie of Port Huron, MI; his son, Edward Wrench and his wife, Michelle Wrench of Byron Center, MI; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his cat, Bimbo.
