Curtis Lon Griffis, Sr., 76, of Ludington, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Curt was born in Hart, on July 16, 1948, the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Cluchey) Griffis. He attended Hart High School but later went on to earn his GED. He attended West Shore Community College, and took a few classes he found enjoyment in.
Curt held many jobs over the years. He worked as a lineman, tattoo artist, and at Stokley’s factory. Once his health started to decline, he had to resign. For over 30 years, he was able to enjoy life’s ups and downs with his sweetheart, Suzanne Anthony. Attending AA monthly, Curt was two months shy of his 25-year sobriety anniversary and was very proud of that achievement. He made many friends there and kept up with their life journeys of sobriety. He loved music and taught his boys how to play the guitar at an early age. An artist at heart, he managed to tattoo clients, friends, and family, as well as his own arm, with his one-of-a-kind art. Curt also loved to make people smile, with his wit or with his jokes. He will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Curt is survived by his children, daughter, Kim (Jeff) Scofield, and sons, Paul Griffis, and Curt (Tina) Griffis, Jr.; stepson, Robert Gadziemski; granddaughters, Kayla Gale Scofield, Carrie Griffis; grandsons, Austin, Taylor (Lexi), Dylan (Seth), and Mason Griffis; great-grandson, Camden Scofield; and loving partner, Suzanne Anthony.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Griffis, and Raymond Griffis; son, Cory Griffis; grandson, Cory Jr. Griffis; and stepdaughter, Sara Gadziemski.
