LUDINGTON — Lisa Williams, chief executive officer of West Michigan Community Mental Health, has accepted a position as a CEO for another behavioral healthcare organization in Florida. She will be resigning from the local position effective Jan. 31, 2025.
Williams has been with WMCMH for 25 years and has served as its CEO for the past 11 years.
“WMCMH has been my career home and a significant part of my life’s work,” said Williams. “I have a heartfelt connection to the organizational team and board and a passion for our mission of delivering outstanding behavioral healthcare to the communities we serve. Leading WMCMH has been an honor, and I am profoundly grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me over the years.”
Williams said at her new job she will continue to lead efforts to expand programs and policies ensuring access to evidence-based mental healthcare for vulnerable populations. The move also brings her closer to her parents, fulfilling a personal goal, she said.
“Although I am excited for this new opportunity, leaving WMCMH is bittersweet,” Williams said. “The dedication of our team and leadership has built a strong foundation for the future of behavioral health in our communities. I will always be so proud of the innovative work we have accomplished together to improve the lives of citizens in our three counties and to advocate for improved mental health policy within the state.”
Plans for the transition and the search for a new CEO are underway. The organization’s board has appointed a search committee that is reviewing qualified internal and external applicants. A special meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 for the purpose of interviewing final candidates and selecting WMCMH’s next CEO.
