James Mize

James Milton Mize, 83, of Pentwater, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

James was born on July 24, 1941, the son of Oscar Mize and Martha (Johnson) Mize. He graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1959. On September 16, 1977, he married Anna (Ray) Mize.

James worked as a manager at Hall’s Drive In, Inc. where he retired in 2003 after 45 years of dedicated service. He was also formerly a board member of the Pentwater Artisan Learning Center, where he was currently a volunteer. He was also a Wood Worker Extraordinaire!

James is survived by his wife Anna Mize; children, Pamela (Steve) Dennie, James (Kelly) Mize, Jr., Tracy Hanks, and Tami Hanks (Samuel Greiger); sister, Judith Rice (John Daniels); half-sisters, Kathy (Russell) Peterson, and Mary Griem; grandchildren, Spenser (Harmony) Mize, Kelsey Mize (George Bryant), Trapper (Jacqueline) Mize, Levi Mize, Alisha Hanks (Mike DeArmond), Austin (Tanisha) Hanks; five nieces, two nephews, and two great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to either the Pentwater Artisan Center, 780 Park St. Pentwater, MI 49449, or The Elephant Sanctuary, P.O. Box 393 Hohenwald, TN 38462.

A Celebration of Life will be in spring of 2025. Date to be determined.
