SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Two people were injured in a semi truck vs. pickup truck crash on M 20 near 88th Avenue Monday, Nov. 25, around 3:15 p.m.
A 49-year-old White Cloud woman, who was the driver of a white 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and her passenger — a 51-year-old White Cloud man — were transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby after the Silverado was struck by a yellow 2018 Volvo VN commercial truck, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office report. The semi truck, which was driven by a 32-year-old Dearborn man, ran the stop sign at the intersection, states the report.
Preliminary breath test (PBT) results of the semi truck driver were .00. Drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The pickup truck was traveling west on M 20 when it was struck by the semi truck traveling south on 88th Avenue. The semi truck driver told the investigating deputy that he did not see the stop sign. The crash report noted that there are visible stop ahead and stop signs at the intersection.
On arrival at the scene, the pickup truck driver appeared to be having a seizure. “Upon further investigation, it appeared to be a panic attack,” states the report. She was transported by Life EMS “due to having pain in her neck, arm and chest.” The passenger was also transported by Life EMS with a possible leg injury.
The semi truck was leaking coolant following the crash.
