Man reportedly creates disturbance at Democratic headquarters

October 18, 2024

WEARE TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Hart man has been warned by police that if he returns to the Oceana County Democratic Headquarters located in the 4300 block of West Monroe Road, he will be arrested for trespassing, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The suspect allegedly created a disturbance at the headquarters Wednesday, Oct. 16, shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office police report.

“A male subject came into the Democratic party headquarters and was telling employees they are part of a conspiracy and they should be condemned for their actions — among other statements,” the report states.

“He made them feel threatened,” said the sheriff. “He made a series of threats and very awkward statements. Based on previous behaviors, the sheriff’s office was very, very familiar with this gentleman. He’s being advised that he’s no longer welcome to come to the premises and cause further disturbances or he will be arrested for trespassing.”

The man is the same suspect who allegedly brought a gun tucked into his waistband into the sheriff’s office lobby. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and making a false report of a medical or other emergency.

No one was injured in either incident.
