Roger Lewis Simkins

Roger Lewis Simkins, 79, of Hart, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was born June 13, 1945, in Saginaw.

Roger enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud Marine throughout his life.  After his time in the Marine Corps, Roger was a boiler maker for over 30 years for Boiler Makers Local 169. He was an active member in the Freemasons, Marine Corps League, Oceana County Grange, Crystal Valley Care Fund, and the American Legion. Roger lived a large life, he was caring, and his greatest pride was his family.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved traveling to his place is Harlinqen, Texas, in the winter where he enjoyed wood working and socializing with many friends.

Roger is survived by: his children, Lisa (Frank) Uria, Christopher Simkins, and James (Kristy) Simkins; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Hempfling.

Roger was preceded in death by: his brother, Paul Simkins; his parents, Margaret and Charlie Valley;  and  father, Evan Simkins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Hart – Oceana Wigton Benona Lodge 200 F. & A.M., 2661 North Oceana Drive, Hart.
