GRANT TOWNSHIP — Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash causing injuries on southbound US 31 near the Rothbury rest area Monday, Oct. 14, shortly before 5 p.m. The freeway was closed for about a half hour in the vicinity of the crash, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. It was reported that a male subject was ejected from the vehicle.
Motorists driving past the crash scene Monday were dangerously not moving over and slowing down for emergency vehicles, which is against the law.
“As I sit in our biggest engine with emergency lights on, I should not be swaying side to side as vehicle after vehicle flies by at a high rate of speed,” stated Grant Township Fire Chief Dan Yost in a post on the fire department’s Facebook page. “Myself, and all other responders want to go home after an incident or shift. PLEASE, SLOW DOWN!”
