Dolores Cecilia Czarnecki, 90, of Hart, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility. She was born July 17, 1934, in Muskegon, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Simmons) Schaner.
Dolores graduated from Hart High School in 1952. After graduation, she attended music school in Chicago. After returning home from Chicago, she married Gerald VandenHeuvel I and they raised five children together. She worked in the tax office at the Oceana County Courthouse, was an avid bowler, and really enjoyed playing the organ at church and throughout the community. After raising her family, Dolores moved to Grand Rapids to attend college and then decided to move to a warmer climate. She ended up in Las Vegas where she started her second career as a data entry clerk for MedCo. While living in Las Vegas, she met, fell in love with, and then married Vincent Czarnecki who was also originally from Michigan. She and Vince enjoyed their new condo, sitting by the pool, eating wonderful food, seeing shows, bowling, and all that Las Vegas had to offer. As they aged, they decided to move back to Michigan to be closer to family.
Dolores is survived by: her children, Gerald VandenHeuvel II, Thomas VandenHeuvel, Joni VandenHeuvel, Henry (Jennifer) VandenHeuvel, and Charles VandenHeuvel; 13 grandchildren; nine, soon-to-be 10, great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold (Louise) Schaner, Mickey (Carmen) Schaner.
Dolores married Vincent Michael Czarnecki on February 20, 2000, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2019. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; and sister, Marcia Jeffries.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Weare Catholic Church 2380 West Jackson Road, Hart (Weare Township), with Fr. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Visitation will be held Friday, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery.
