SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A thief or thieves drilled holes into the gas tanks of two pickup trucks parked at the carpool parking lot on M 20 near US 31, causing a fuel spill, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

“The fuel spilled out onto the pavement,” said Sheriff Mast, which required response from the Shelby-Benona Fire Department, Oceana County Emergency Management and the Oceana County Road Commission to assist the sheriff’s office in the clean up Thursday, Oct. 3, shortly after 8 a.m.
Gas was stolen from a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck and a 2004 Ford F 250 pickup truck, causing costly damage to the trucks.
The case is under investigation. If anyone has information about the case, they are asked to call the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office at (231) 873-2121.
