PENTWATER — The Pentwater Service Club is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates Night” Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. at Park Place.
Candidates running for offices in the Village of Pentwater, Pentwater Township and Oceana County all have been invited to participate in the event, which has been sponsored by the PSC since 1992.
“One of the PSC’s mandates is to contribute to having an informed citizenry about all things local, including elections,” said Bart Zachrich, former PSC president and member who is managing the event for the club, now in its 32nd year. Zachrich said the club is expecting a large crowd due to heightened interest in the national election.
“Pentwater Village, Pentwater Township and Oceana County have always been fortunate to have excellent candidates to fill positions vital to the continued success of our community, and this year is no different,” Zachrich said. “Twenty-two candidates are running for elected offices this year,” Zachrich added.
“Elections are critical to our Democracy and this year we’ve created a venue for voters to get the information they need to make informed choices,” said Ken Konyha, president of the PSC.
Candidates will each be given time to express in their own words why they are running for office and what they hope to accomplish, if elected. Participants can verbally ask questions of the candidates, or anonymously by utilizing provided index cards.
If a voter is unable to attend the forum in person, they can give their question(s) to any PSC member and must include the candidate to whom their question is being asked and an email address or phone number where they wish to receive feedback.
Persons attending the event should plan to arrive before 6 p.m.
