PENTWATER — After a recent unanimous vote by the Pentwater Village Council to offer the village manager job to Rachel Witherspoon, contract negotiations are now complete and Witherspoon is set to begin the job Oct. 21
The village made the official announcement in a press release:
“After a thorough executive search process that included stakeholder engagement sessions, staff discussions, candidate tours, and on-site interviews, Ms. Witherspoon emerged as the leading candidate to guide the organization. She will begin her tenure on Oct. 21, 2024.
“Witherspoon is an exceptionally talented public administrator, offering extensive experience in municipal management, making her an excellent candidate for the village manager role in Pentwater. Her remarkable track record in community engagement, budget management, and project oversight illustrates her ability to drive meaningful progress for the community. Rachel’s dedication to fostering strong relationships, commitment to transparency, and strategic approach to problem solving will greatly benefit Pentwater. She is excited to apply her skills and passion for local government to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
“Ms. Witherspoon expressed her enthusiasm about taking on this leadership role, stating, ‘I am thrilled to be joining the community of Pentwater as the next village manager. It is a rare gift to live and work in a place as beautiful and charming as Pentwater — even more rare to have been welcomed there so graciously by so many members of the community. I look forward to working with the village staff, village council, local organizations, and the community at large to maintain Pentwater’s charm while improving services and opportunities.’
“Double Haul Solutions (DHS), the firm that conducted the executive search for the village council, will assist in ensuring a seamless transition for the new village manager by conducting three months of executive coaching as per their contract with the village.
“‘It was an honor to work with the Village of Pentwater on the search for their new village manager,” said Mitch Foster, DHS’ economic vitality and small community specialist. ‘I believe they got the best person for the job in Rachel Witherspoon and look forward to watching them build an amazing relationship while continuing the positive momentum Pentwater has.’
“The Village Council would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to all those who participated in the selection process.”
