79th District Court sentencings, posted Aug. 23, 2024

HART — The following were sentenced recently in Oceana County’s 79th District Court:

Draven Alexander-Scott Scovill, 19, of 106 W. Third St., Shelby, pleaded guilty Aug. 21 to third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to $237.98 in fines, costs and restitution.

Benjamin William Meurer, 20, of A6590 146th Ave., Holland, pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to person under 21 with blood alcohol content of .02 to .07 and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served and $500 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.

Rick Albert King, 30, of 3752 W. Van Buren Rd., Hart, pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to domestic violence and was sentenced to 19 days in jail with credit for 19 days served; six months probation; and $525 in fines and costs. King also pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a vehicle and was sentenced to $125 in fines and costs.

Killian Wallace, 19, of 4551 E. Lane Dr., Montague, pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to malicious destruction of property less than $200 and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; $641.81 in restitution to be paid to the Shelby Public Schools; and $400 in fines and costs.

Brandon Scott Thrailkill, 31, of 1819 Mears St., Mears, pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to one year probation and $400 in fines and costs. 

Matthew Ralph Goodwin, 46, of 5840 S. Taylor Rd., Branch, pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to driving while license suspended and was sentenced to seven days suspended jail with credit for seven days served. Conviction reportable to SOS. Charges of invalid insurance and unregistered vehicle were dismissed.

Shawn Ronald Alvesteffer, 30, of 9006 104th Ave., Pentwater, pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education, Victim Impact Panel; and $1,155 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. 

Dismissal

Nicholas Martin Dekleine, 19, of 4290 Adams St., Zeeland, one count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed, Aug. 16.
