Eugene “Geno” Harley Wheeler, 84, of Ludington, formerly of Shelby, passed away Tuesday August 20, 2024. Eugene was born on March 20, 1940, in Hart, the son of Alteron “Steve” Wheeler and Olive (Cole) Wheeler. He graduated from Hart High School in 1958.

On February 14, 1987, Eugene married the love of his life, Donna J. (Figgins) Wheeler. Eugene dedicated 30 years of his life to Harbison Walker before venturing into business ownership with Timberlake Resort in Mears, Michigan, from 1987 to 2002.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Eugene was an active member of the Peanut Pals, an enthusiast club for collectors of Planters Peanuts memorabilia. His passions also extended to hunting, fishing, rock hunting, and antique collecting, activities that allowed him to explore and appreciate the outdoors.

Eugene is survived by his son, Craig (Mary) Wheeler; daughters, Joan (Gary) Wheeler-Sims and Pamela (Matt) Dennison; grandchildren, Amanda (Yusuke) Imasaka, Matthew Dennison, and Sarah Dennison; great granddaughter, Stella Imasaka; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; brother, Walter Wheeler; and sister-in-law, Karen Wheeler.

Memorial contributions in Eugene’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, or Christ the King Presbyterian Church, 2205 Main Street, Shelby, MI 49455.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Christ the King Presbyterian Church, 2205 Main Street, Shelby.
