WEARE TOWNSHIP — A 30-year-old Hart man was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies for domestic assault after allegedly hitting the victim in the head with a guitar, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
The incident occurred in the 3700 block of West Van Buren Road Wednesday, July 3, shortly before 8:30 p.m. The suspect was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.

Wednesday, July 3, 2024:
- 9:03 a.m., a 47-year-old Shelby man was arrested for second-offense operating while intoxicated, South 80th Avenue, Shelby Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 11:35 a.m., a 43-year-old Shelby man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS), Oceana Drive near Monroe Road, Weare Township.
Thursday, July 4, 2024:
- 3:32 a.m., a 27-year-old Hart man was cited for DWLS, North 72nd Avenue, Weare Township.
- 3:21 p.m., domestic assault, no arrest, 700 block of East McKinley Road, Otto Township.
- 8:06 p.m., an 18-year-old Ludington man and a 49-year-old Mears man were both arrested for fleeing and eluding police and ORV in a roadway, 52nd Avenue near Morris Lake Road, Golden Township. They were lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 11:18 p.m., a 28-year-old Norton Shores man was arrested for operating while intoxicated causing child endangerment, South 192nd Avenue near Skeels Road, Greenwood Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 11:30 p.m., a 57-year-old Shelby man was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a vehicle crash, East Baseline Road near York Road, Elbridge Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail. No one was injured.
Friday, July 5, 2024:
- 2:33 a.m., indecent exposure, 8400 block of West Silver Lake Road, Golden Township.
- 6:09 p.m., a male juvenile was apprehended for assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and operating without a license, Silver Lake Road, Golden Township.
Saturday, July 6, 2024:
- 4:09 a.m., a 34-year-old Jackson man was cited for DWLS, North Shore Drive near Hazel Road, Golden Township.
- 3:21 p.m., a 23-year-old Xenia, Ohio man was arrested for felonious assault after allegedly pointing a pistol at another person, 1500 block of North Wilson Road, Golden Township. No one was injured. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 9:20 p.m., a 67-year-old Hesperia man was cited for DWLS, South Street near Division Street, Village of Hesperia.
Sunday, July 7, 2024:
- 1:59 a.m., a 22-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Spruce Street, Village of Hesperia. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
- 5:46 a.m., a 44-year-old Shelby man was arrested on outstanding warrants and for assaulting/resisting/obstructing police, West Baker Road, Shelby Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
