GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — A 30-year-old Holton man was arrested after fleeing from police Thursday, July 4, around 4 a.m. — thanks to the help of Oceana County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Laz.
The man fled from sheriff’s deputies in a 2009 Ford Fusion, reaching speeds of 120 mph. The pursuit began on Skeels Road near 200th Avenue when a traffic stop was initiated for a non-functioning headlight. The man then fled on foot, but was tracked down by K-9 Laz and his handler Sgt. Cam Hanson and taken into police custody.
The man faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, drug possession, probation violation, driving while license suspended, operating without insurance and improper license plate. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
