Award-winning singer S.G. Wood to perform at New Era Farmers’ Market July 9

June 28, 2024

NEW ERA — Award-winning singer/songwriter S.G. Wood will perform Tuesday, July 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the New Era Farmers’ Market located at 1820 Ray Ave.

Wood, originally from Detroit and now living in Tampa, Florida, has a new album coming out early next year. “His music is an Americana mix of folk, country, rock and bluegrass, served up on an old Gibson flat top guitar. His style is both aggressive and gentle, conveying a full spectrum of emotions serving up musical stories of love, heartbreak and the light and dark adventures of humanity. He’s fond of his time playing in The Hummingbirds and credits it for being an amazing period of musical growth that led him to where he is now as a solo artist and the frontman of a new band, Dude Waters, featuring some of the best musicians in the Tampa Bay area. His music can be heard in several movies, and he has opened shows for the likes of Paul Thorn, Son Volt, Dave Alvin, The Kentucky Headhunters, and more.”

The market will also feature the Kids Power of Produce Club from 4-5 p.m., offering a story read by Oceana 4-H Program Coordinator Sarah Schaner. There will also be a petting zoo provided by the Oceana 4-H Club; drawings for prizes; and $4 tokens to purchase produce. An MSU Extension “Discover MI Fresh 2024” class will feature a recipe for kale, potato and white bean skillet. Take-home bags with ingredients and vouchers for produce will be provided.
