It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cary Hasty, who died peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 62. Cary was born on December 20, 1961, in Hart to Gary Lee Hasty and Lou Ann Roose (Moorman).
Cary left behind a legacy of cherished memories. He grew up in the greater Oceana County area and later moved to Battle Creek, where he built a life filled with love, adventure, and camaraderie. His adventurous spirit was perfectly suited for the home he built for himself on Saint Mary’s Lake.

Cary is survived by his beloved daughter, Shaina Lee Hasty; brother, Shane Hasty; aunt, Andrea Schneider (Roland Schneider); ex-wife, Stacy Wilkey and stepson, Austin McCleary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Lee Hasty and Lou Ann Moorman; his stepfather, Gene Moorman; and his sister, Carmen Burgess.

Cary enjoyed many hobbies including spending time with friends, family and loved ones at the lake, riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, snowmobile racing, morel mushroom hunting, and watching NASCAR. Cary dedicated many years to the car business as a trusted wholesale car buyer for many companies and owner of Hart Classic. He cultivated numerous friendships and touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. He was especially grateful for the love and support of his close friends and his close companion, Terry Haring. He leaves behind a large community of loved ones who will miss his vibrant spirit and warm heart.

In this time of loss, we remember Cary for his adventurous spirit, and the deep connections he made with those around him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29 at Baxter Funeral Home, 375 W Dickman Rd, Battle Creek. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. followed by the service at 4 p.m. For anyone that would like to ride their motorcycles in honor of Cary we will ride to the Griffin for drinks and stories after the service concludes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bronson Health Foundation in Cary’s memory.

A celebration of life to honor Cary’s life will be held at the Eagles in Whitehall and announced at a later date.
