Ludington man injured in SUV vs. truck crash

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Ludington man was transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby following an SUV vs. truck crash on Deer Road near 40th Avenue Monday, June 24, shortly after 3 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The Ludington man who was driving a 2020 Ford Expedition SUV hit a 2016 Kent Freightliner delivery truck driven by a 38-year-old Grand Rapids man. The Grand Rapids man suffered minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital, according to the report.

The Expedition was westbound on Deer Road when it collided with the delivery truck that was stopped in the roadway with its hazard lights on, the report states. The SUV driver said “he looked down at his GPS unit and upon looking back up, struck (the delivery truck.)”

The truck driver told police that “he came to a stop in the roadway and intended on backing into a private driveway. He said that “as soon as he came to a stop, he was struck (by the Expedition.)”
