PENTWATER — Steve Brock, who has decades of experience in municipal management, was hired by the Pentwater Village Council as the village’s interim manager.
Brock is filling in until the council finds a permanent replacement for Chris Brown who was fired without cause last March.
Brock was most recently interim city manager last summer for Traverse City. In 2019, he was Scottville’s interim city manager for four months. In 2018, he served as Ludington’s interim city manager.
Brock retired in 2015 from Farmington Hills where he was employed for over 25 years with 17 of those years working as the city manager.
He has owned property on the west side of the state for 25 years, he said.
“I promised myself after I retired that if the phone rang, and somebody needed an interim to fill in during the summer or fall, I would do that. It’s worked out four times now.”
Brock was hired by the Pentwater Village Council with a unanimous vote during a special meeting, May 30. “The contract is either until they have a new manager selected — on the ground in place — or Nov. 1 at the latest.”
The council is slated to hire a search firm Monday, June 10, to begin the process of finding a permanent manager.
“I am glad to be here,” said Brock.
