HART TOWNSHIP — A fire destroyed a trailer at the Pines Mobile Home Park on 72nd Avenue Monday, June 3, said Hart Fire Chief Dwight Fuehring
Firefighters from Hart, Pentwater and Shelby-Benona departments were dispatched to the scene shortly before 11 a.m.
“It started in the back bedroom, and it was an unknown source that started it,” said Chief Fuehring.
The adult female occupant did not immediately know if the mobile home was covered by insurance, he said. The woman and her two dogs were inside the trailer when it caught fire, but safely escaped.
“It was contained to the back half of the trailer in the bedroom and bathroom. The front half had extensive water and smoke damage.”
Firefighters were on scene for about two hours, he said. No other mobile homes in the park were damaged. “We knocked it down really fast.”
The American Red Cross was called to assist the woman with lodging and other immediate needs.
