HART — A 26-year-old Holton woman could be charged with smuggling contraband into the Oceana County Jail and methamphetamine possession after corrections officers noticed “odd behavior” of some female inmates Wednesday evening, May 15, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
The woman, who is a jail inmate, allegedly shared the drug with other inmates. After an investigation, the corrections officers found a substance that is believed to be methamphetamine. The substance is being sent to the crime lab for analysis, and charges are pending the lab results.
Sheriff Mast said his office has submitted an application for a grant to purchase an x-ray scanner that can detect substances hidden inside body cavities.
