MEARS — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 33 year old man from New Era that presumably occurred Wednesday, May 1. According to a statement from Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast, Mason-Oceana 911 received a call about 9 p.m. Wednesday asking for help. Deputies responded to the scene in the 5800 block of West Taylor Road.
Mast said the death is being considered suspicious at this time and is still under investigation. The Michigan State Police mobile crime lab was called to assist with the scene investigation. The MSP-Hart Post, Hart Area Fire Department, Shelby Fire Department, Life EMS and the sheriff’s office Victim Services Unit also responded to the scene.
According to Oceana County Undersheriff Ryan Schiller, more information is expected to be released later today.
