HART — The following were sentenced Monday, April 29, 2024 in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court:
– Brandon Michael Branch, 32, pleaded guilty March 11 to failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced April 29 to a minimum of one year and one day to a maximum of four years in prison and $198 in fines and costs. One count of failure to comply with sex offender registration duties was dismissed. Branch’s sex offender status stems from third-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions in Saginaw County in 2012.
– William Jon Monroe, 49, pleaded guilty March 11 to methamphetamine possession and was sentenced April 29 to one year in jail with credit for 111 days served and $598 in fines and costs. One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police was dismissed. He was found guilty of probation violation and sentenced to a concurrent term of 80 days in jail with credit for 80 days served and two years probation. Probation stems from a 2021 conviction of firearms possession by a felon.
– David Michael Pierce, 47, pleaded “no contest” March 11 to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and was sentenced April 29 to 10 months in jail with credit for 98 days served; two years probation; and $598 in fines and costs.
– Jarred Aldon Swanger, 43, pleaded guilty March 11 to unlawful driving away of an automobile/car theft and was sentenced April 29 to seven months in jail with credit for 83 days served; 18 months probation; and $598 in fines and costs. One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police was dismissed.
– Jesse Allen Gonzales, 34, pleaded “no contest” March 11 to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and was sentenced April 29 to 10 months in jail with credit for 72 days served; two years probation; and $934.59 in fines, costs and restitution.
– Jeremy Francis Brunette, 46, pleaded “no contest” March 11 two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and was sentenced April 29 to 95 days in jail with credit for 95 days served; one year probation; and $1,490.30 in fines, costs and restitution. A third count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police was dismissed.
– Michael Anthony Leija, 35, pleaded guilty to controlled substance possession — narcotic, cocaine or another substance and was sentenced April 29 to 127 days in jail with credit for 127 days served; 18 months probation; $598 in fines and costs.
