M 20 resurfacing project begins April 24

The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a $1.5 million project to resurface 2.6 miles of M 20/Stony Lake Road from US 31 to Oceana Drive near New Era Wednesday, April 24.

The project also includes rebuilding and expanding the MDOT carpool lot on 68th Avenue on the northside of M 20.

The project is expected to be completed in late June, according to MDOT.

“The carpool lot will be closed, and daytime lane closures with traffic regulators will be in effect throughout the project.

“Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 21 jobs.

“This project will improve the ride and extend the service life of the roadway. The expanded carpool lot will provide 10 additional parking spaces for more ride sharing opportunities,” states an MDOT press release.
