Hesperia teen injured in golf cart crash

April 16, 2024

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Hesperia woman suffered a compound fracture to her right ankle in a golf cart crash Saturday, April 13, shortly after 5 p.m. on Pines Point Road, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

A 27-year-old Hesperia man was driving a 2019 Vitacci golf cart down Pines Point Road to the river access to go fishing, states the report. “As the driver was navigating the turn-around at the river access, the golf cart’s passenger side wheels entered a washout throwing the golf cart off balance. The golf cart flipped onto its passenger side. As the golf cart was flipping over, the passenger extended her leg in an attempt to stop the vehicle from overturning, resulting in compound fracture to right ankle.”

The woman was transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. The driver was uninjured.
