HART — A 57-year-old Hart man faces robbery charges stemming from an incident involving a BB gun and a juvenile accomplice.

Francisco Lujando Paniagua, of 513 S. Griswold St., was arraigned in Oceana County’s 79th District Court on charges of assault with intent to rob while armed, assault with intent to rob while unarmed and felony firearms – pneumatic gun.

“The allegation is that his juvenile cohort allegedly possessed a BB gun that looked like a pistol and allegedly he attempted to get the victim to give him money,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.

“On Thursday, March 14, 2024, at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Hart Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Jefferson Street referencing a suspected breaking and entering/assault complaint,” stated Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar in a press release. After the investigation was completed, a report was submitted to the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office for review, said Salazar. A warrant was then issued, and Paniagua turned himself in to the Hart Police Department.

Paniagua’s bail was set at $15,000/cash/surety/10 percent, according to court records. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam April 16 at 1 p.m.

“All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty,” said Bizon.
