Fire damages Benona Township house
BENONA TOWNSHIP — Four fire departments battled a house fire at 65 S. 64th Ave. Friday morning. Shelby-Benona Fire Department was initially dispatched to the fire at 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, the first unit on scene reported smoke and flames through the roof of the two story house.
During the fire, a Shelby-Benona Fire Department firefighter was transported by ambulance to Trinity Health Lakeshore Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire department officials reported there were no other injuries resulting from the fire.
Assisting on scene were Hart Area Fire Department, Grant Township Fire Department, Ferry Township Fire Department, Life EMS, and Oceana County Sheriff’s Office. Also assiting on scene were Great Lakes Energy, Oceana County Victims Services and Grant Township Rehab Trailer.
