A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids for several Michigan counties Friday, March 22, including Oceana and Mason counties.
Forecasters are predicting 3-7 inches of snow. The advisory is in effect beginning at 3 a.m. Friday until midnight Friday night.
Other counties included in the advisory: Muskegon, Newaygo, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Mecosta, Isabella, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton and Ingham.
“Highest snowfall totals in that range will occur near and north of Interstate 96,” states NWS. “Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
“Snow will spread into Western Lower Michigan overnight and continue through the day on Friday before ending Friday evening. The heaviest snow will fall on an axis from near Muskegon and Grand Haven northeast to Mount Pleasant and Alma — 4-7 inches will fall in that swath. Slightly lower totals are expected in the remainder of the area up towards US 10 and for areas south of Interstate 96. Snow covered and slippery roads will be likely at times as air temperatures will be near and below 32 degrees during the time of the snow.
