Good announces candidacy for probate judge

With more than 20 years of experience in the legal system, Attorney Ryan Good has announced  his candidacy for Oceana County Probate Court judge.

“I’m excited for this opportunity. I want to be able to give back to my community, and I believe I am uniquely qualified to do so,” Good said.

“Good is a Hesperia resident, where his practice is located,” states his candidacy announcement. “He has extensive experience in all matters that would come before him if elected, including child abuse/neglect matters, guardianships, conservatorships, estate matters and divorces with children.

“Good spent the first nine years of his 23-year career in the newspaper industry, where he became intimately familiar with the workings of the legal system. He has spent time talking with and visiting people whose lives were impacted by rulings in the court system. He has seen the real world impacts of what goes on in the courtroom.

“Good also brings 11 years’ experience as a practicing attorney in Oceana County. In his practice, he has helped numerous clients through matters that a probate court handles.

“Good holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Toledo, Ohio, and is a cum laude graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

“Outside of his career, Good is currently vice president of the Hesperia Community Schools Board of Education, the secretary/treasurer of the Hesperia Area Chamber of Commerce, and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3111.

“Good has also served as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 1133 in Hesperia and coached elementary basketball and little league baseball.”

“My wife, a life-long resident of Oceana County, and I have had professional opportunities that would have taken us elsewhere, but we choose our community and Oceana County because we believe this is a great place to raise our family,” he said.

Good and his wife, Christa, have three children.
