Fox announces candidacy for probate judge
HART — After 30 years of private practice serving the residents of Oceana County, attorney Eric Fox announces his candidacy for probate court judge of Oceana County.
“Fox is a lifelong resident of Oceana County,” states his candidacy announcement. “He graduated from Shelby High School before getting his degree from Michigan State University. He then worked for Congressman Guy VanderJagt before getting his law degree from George Washington University. After graduating, Fox returned to Shelby, married Deana Rumsey, began his family and career in law.
“Fox has a proven history of advocating for the rights of individuals and will bring his skills and knowledge to the probate court bench. With a focus on fairness, integrity, and efficiency, he aims to ensure that every individual who enters the judicial system is treated with dignity and respect and receives a fair resolution to their legal matter. With over 30 years of legal practice, Fox has a wealth of experience in the types of matters handled by the probate court.
“Being raised in a farming family, Fox understands the importance of hard work and brings this work ethic to his law practice and to service to the community. ‘I grew up working for my family’s local business and my legal career provided me the opportunity to return home,’ said Fox. ‘I believe that my legal expertise, community involvement, and commitment to helping people in this county makes me an excellent candidate to take on this important position.’
“In addition to representing thousands of clients, Fox has volunteered to serve as the county’s representative for the state bar’s representative assembly as well as on a committee of attorneys tasked with rewriting the rules of professional conduct that all lawyers must follow. Fox is a trained mediator and conducts mediation in family law, estate disputes and many other matters seen by the probate court.
“Fox participated in the formation of a free legal clinic at Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters (COVE) and volunteers his time to provide legal advice to victims of domestic violence. Additionally, over the years, Fox has served as a chairman of the United Way Campaign for Oceana County, chairman board member of the Oceana Community Foundation, president of the Michigan State Alumni Association, chairman of the Oceana County Economic Alliance and Oceana County Economic Development Corporation and has been an active member and former president of the Shelby Optimist Club. Fox believes serving as Oceana’s probate court judge will allow him to serve the residents of Oceana County in a new and meaningful way.
