School buses spray painted with graffiti

SHELBY — A vandal or vandals spray painted graffiti on 18 school buses at Shelby Public Schools over the weekend, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The vandal or vandals used green spray paint, he said, and nearby Getty Park was also vandalized. A restroom door at the park and a bulldozer belonging to McCormick Sand Inc. were also spray painted. Racial slurs were painted in some of the graffiti. Sewer components at the park, which is undergoing construction for improvements, were also vandalized with the spray paint.

Deputies were dispatched to the bus barn Sunday, March 3, to respond to the complaint.

“Deputies are continuing to investigate this incident, and if anyone has information about it, they can please call the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office at (231) 873-2121.”
