Obituary: Donna Wheeler, 76, of Ludington, formerly of Shelby

Donna Jean (Figgins) Wheeler, 76, of Ludington, formerly of Shelby and Ajo, Arizona, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Donna was born on March 6, 1947, the daughter of the late Glenn and Frances (Yanusz) Figgins. In 1965 she graduated from Mason County Eastern High School and later earned her degree in biology at Ferris State University. On February 14, 1987, she married Eugene Wheeler.

In 1987, Donna and Eugene opened Timberlake Resort and RV Club in Mears. Together they operated the resort until 2001. They had many lasting friendships and wonderful memories of their time at Timberlake. Donna was the director of recreation at Timberlake, organizing steak fries, holiday fireworks, musical performances, dances, and she served breakfast to the campers every weekend.

Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the casino, tending to her garden, reading, and rockhounding.

Donna is survived by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Pamela (Matt) Dennison; stepchildren, Craig (Mary) Wheeler and Joni (Gary) Sims; grandchildren, Amanda (Yusuke) Imasaka, Matthew Dennison, and Sara Dennison; great granddaughter, Stella Imasaka; sister, Susan (Ken) Myers; brother, Steven (Cindy) Figgins; sister-in-law, June Figgins; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Francis Figgins; brothers, William Figgins and Michael Figgins; sister-in-law, Faith Figgins; and nephew Jason Figgins.

A private Celebration of Life will be planned at a later time.
